It's time to start cooking dinner

I haven't regularly cooked dinner in years.  It's definitely time.  I like courses.  Multi-course dinners feel fancy and festive.  This is the season for festive things.  I will need:
1. Recipes
2. Groceries to make the recipes
3. Dishes to serve the recipes on

I got new wedding dishes but they arrived chipped and shattered.  I'm thinking they are not the durable dishes I had hoped for. Debating whether to replace the broken ones or the whole set. They've been a lot of trouble.

Noteworthy things for today:
1. The elderly couple that just walked by my house holding hands
2. The familial sound of a distant train
3. My son's first day of mad science, which he paid for himself
4. Four new peacoats in my closet, which I should return but probably won't
5. The disappointment of a broken glass that was given to me by someone special
